Serving northern Cook and Lake Counties, the Highland Park EMS System operates in Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Region X (10). The System provides medical oversight to 7 local EMS agencies, represented by over 450 individual providers.
The department itself is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, paramedics, and administrative personnel; and administers specialty and continuing education programs to healthcare providers and communities across Northern Illinois.

Regional Emergency Dispatch (RED) Center
Highland Park Hospital is the designated Regional Hospital Coordinating Center (RHCC) for Illinois Region X. The Highland Park EMS System, regional Disaster Healthcare Coalition and regional Emergency Preparedness units, facilitate coordinating the medical response to disaster and emergency activations — linking hospitals and EMS resources across the region.
